Charlotte Beach Sunrises build memories that last generations and just so happen, those memories occur right outside the 424 Beach Ave estates beach side doors.
Charlotte Beach, located on the northern shore of the mighty Lake Ontario, has long been a part of every family’s history in the Rochester, NY area. And, it has evolved to be a part of the estates history as well ever since oxen teams pulled carts along the beach between the homes and what was to become an amusement destination in the late 1800’s.
From the time that the Yacht Club was established in 1874, the Charlotte Beach area has evolved into a destination following the 1884 Ontario Beach Improvement Company formation to establish lake front resort area. The initial steps included electric trollies between the beach and downtown. With the addition of the historic carousel, the area developed into a true park with the original Abbots Frozen Custard, community center, public beach, walking pier, port facility, restaurants and recently, the new public docking area.
Although the area has continued to change over the years, one thing that is constant about the pier is the sunrises. No matter the time of year, the brilliant colors reflect off of the water (or snow) displaying sights that make memories of a lifetime that have astounded hundreds of thousands from around the world since the time that the pier and waterfront was created.
All of the following photos were taken by a previous Beach Ave owner of the Shingleside Estate sold a few years ago (From The Collection of Al Porter and used with the photographers permission). The body of water that is shown in the photos is Lake Ontario from the Charlotte Beach area. Most photos are of sunrise towards Charlotte Beach Pier and the Genesee river outlet.
